The Struggles of Life as a Millennial

It doesn't matter how "down to earth" and normal you try to be, deep down (not that deep) you feel like you are destined for more. It's not a question of vanity but more about what is wrong with our generation that society taught us to all think that we're special. As much as you don't want to buy into it you can't help but feel like you're the exception to the rule and your career really is going to be the one that all your high school friends look to for inspiration. I mean if it happened to your sister's friend's cousin why not you?

This is not to say that I fully buy into the hype around being told you're special but it truly doesn't help when random people tell you so too. Does that mean that you ARE special because surely that doesn't happen to everyone? But what if it does and you're over thinking everything? But also, what does it mean if you feel like your big break is right around the corner, but you can feel it in your bones. Is this our conditioning or is it real, can you genuinely feel deep in your soul that you are going to make something of your life?

Does everyone compare themselves to celebrities at their age or is it just those of gen Y? Is my interest in actors around my age because of their talent or because my lack of achievement at the ripe old age of 22.

2016 is the year of action, this is the year that we make strives towards becoming that "special snowflake", hopefully working my hardest will allow me to reach that level but I fear this is my millennial mind talking rather than sense.

Mercedes Benz NYFW From Afar

Time to review some of the best looks/ faux pas from the shows so far.

Charlotte Ronson:
The beauty of this piece!! It's sheer layer mixed with the coverage it provides creates a very femme approach to cobalt. Also, loving the hat and boots I'm deffinately trying this look next winter!

Cushnie Et Ochs:
Loving the black number, it's a classic but updated with the sheer panelling. The green is a horrible shade of green, I much prefer a darker one, this lime is too yellow. But the shapes of the pieces especially the skirt are fabulous, perfectly fitting and at a length that isn't too long and nunish or short and revealing. The white however is a nice idea but as soon as you see nipples you know that the cut is TOO low, that kind of cleverage is just unacceptable! Lovely white though, the seams are in an interesting place too, but it's just too revealing.

Zoe Deutch and Jamie Chung at the Cushnie Et Ochs show

When it comes to the question of 'Who wore it best?' The winner is clear in my eyes Jamie Chung! The black is just so chic and the combo with the trousers gives it a sexy masculine edge. Zoe Deutch also looks amazing, the white looks great against her ski and accessorising with Gold was a good choice, I just prefer the streamlined effect of the black.

Nicole Miller:
Of course Miller's show was AHU-mazing I mean the use of black and charcoals is always going to be a winner in my books! This look for example is the bees knees! The complete gradient of greys with the smokey eye just gives me the vision of walking into a event in this and all eyes turning to it, it's just exactly what would set you apart from the crowd, a clash of the tonal greys.

LOOK AT THE PEACOCK!!!! I love Peacock feathers/print/EVERYTHING! The look on the far left is my favourite for sure! The bold angles of the jacket layered over the crop top and that beautiful peacock skirt. It's the best (one of) look of the collection, it sort of looks like something you'd expect Alexandra Spencer to wear (4th and Bleeker).

Ali Lohan got it right. Her look for the Miller show was on point. Sheer panels and a pepulum #winning, such a delicate yet tough top, the jeans I'm not feeling but I understand her desire to add some party on the bottom as well. If she had left it to the top half then the top would've stood out more but that's not what everyone wants I suppose...the ombré hair I like it. But the top, as it's a midnight-indigo colour rather than black it really highlights her complexion. It's not often people will go for a bluer shade of darkness if black doesn't suit them, black doesn't suit everyone!

This is just the beginning for Fashion Week has just begun, I will return with more! And the nail varnish :)

Until next time.

The past week (or two)

Sorry for not posting a lot recently but in my defense I have been ill and gotten back logged with work for uni! But, it's reading week now so all that is in the past and it's time for *release*.
I saw this colour (Frisson by Chanel) mentioned on Vogue.com and immediately I feel the urge to find it and try it! I'm looking for a new 'everyday pink' nail varnish, I've also been looking at Vanity Fairest by Essie (see below) which has a similar shimmer to it. I will try them out and post the results and decisions.

Nicole Richie's outfit here is just, round-of-applause amazing. It's sexy and sofisticated, she shows skin in all the right ways, and that thigh high split is doing it for me, especially combined with the straps on her shoes. I like how they're boardering on gladiators, it adds a touch of aggression to the combo.

I am an avid fan of the thigh high split so when I see it done right praise will be thrown out by the bucket! The polka dots I'm surprised by as I usually hate them, but here they work. There's no hint of childhood memories behind them, em corporates like a lady. To you Nicole, I will take of my hat!

One last thing from me for now. LINGERIE it's hot right? So why aren't we wearing t all the time?? I mean not to the gym or yoga because you're just asking for trouble there but like to class or shopping, it's like a dirty little secret that only you know about. I'm just really into it right now so expect another post (if not two) on the sexy topic. Not only that but it's just so beautiful and delicate. I have a real problem with Victoria's Secret in that I love it so much that I shouldn't own credit cards, especially during sale season.

Until next time.

Lupita Nyong'o- Critics Choice Awards

This Calvin Klein number is absolutely STUNNING on her. The fact that she has well sculpted shoulders really work in her favour. The cut out detail really gives this dress an edge. I'm also in love with her idea to coordinate her nail varnish to her dress, the white just suits her so well!

Until next time...

Kylie Jenner: Sophisticated Cool

I was surprised to see Kylie Jenner is such an adult outfit, the first combination is just perfect (except shoes) it's just such a classic look, the coat especially tying it all together.

The second however seems more her. The bag is fun and punky, I see why she chose the shoes to match the chain of the bag but I would've preferred a black patent pump or something that doesn't make her look sick. The gold is too close to her skin tone, but I do appreciate the subtlety of the colour links.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruitment Premiere

Kiera Knightly usually looks so stylish but this this dress is just "old maid" there's very little shape to it (fitting) the white piping is just too glaring especially the belt. It's the white that really ruins it, also not a dress for a premiere.

Especially when you look this good at an airport, it's just an effortlessly cool outfit  it doesn't match up to the previous choice.

Her costar's red carpet choice is just terrible. It's ill fitting and it looks like her underwear is showing through. However her makeup is flawless.

Until next time...

Jump In

This jumpsuit is just everything! It's stylish, classy, sofisticated and sexy all at the same time. The dropped neckline gives it it's edge without looking trashy due to the amount of coverage. The belted waist is what seperates it from all the rest, it's a feminine touch to a rather harsh outfit, it softens the look. The trousers are straight but not tight and fitted like cigarette jeans, creating an illusion of longer legs whilst hiding any lumps or numbs (i.e. VPL). It's deffinately one of my favourite looks on Gywenth Paltrow.

Until next time.

PCA

My favourite looks from the PCA's 2014. I was surprised that I didn't like the more obvious choices but I guess everyone can't look good!
I loved this velvet jacket, I usually don't enjoy men's fashion but the way he made himself stand out and in a very sleek and sexy way stood out to me. The shoes however are just a bit too subtle he should have gone for something that shows more of a statement.

He use of lace and sectioning is what drew me to this dress. However I don't like the skirt or the cap sleeves. Also the green of the bag is too yellow/blue for my liking. One last thing I would change is the thickness of the straps of the shoes, other than that it's a very nicely thought out ensemble, all the jewelry and nail varnish compliments it well.

I loved the delicacy of this dress, the gold is very well suited to her auburn hair and feminine make up. The brown bag compliments the dress well, the shoes do as well but I would've preferred something a bit more substantial however the relaxed hair gives it a romantic feel.

As always there has to be someone is a sexy red dress and this year it was... who did it best for me. It's figure hugging and shows of the bust well without looking too seductive, it's a nice change from the usual mermaid tail that i've come to expect.

Until next time

11 Days

I am turning 20 in 11 days and I'm slightly freaking out! I don't know what to do! Like how do I celebrate and who with?!?! I mean I've only been at uni for like 1 semester and now I have to organise outings with my new amigos but half of them don't know the other half, it's just like...

*sweats nervously*

If only I had someone to plan for me, but alas, no such luck so I guess I'll just have to suck it up and get on with it!

Plans:
1) needs to go down in a club...
2) need to invite friends
3) need to have another party for my other friends

But don't worry about me and my insomnia, till next time.

Train spotting

This is going to be a very prominent thing on my blog. I love sussing out peoples outfits on the train whenever I see anything I like I'll be posting it!

For example this woman from this morning although her outfit wasn't really thought out that much she did take the time to match her nail varnish which was a really nice red to her scarf, again a really nice red. Both had some element of multidimensional colour to them which really made her drap outfit pop so for that lady on the train, well done.

Until next time
